Emergency Medicine Society &Residency
The Good Samaritans congratulate Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy on the Ministry of Health's approval of the first Emergency Medicine Residency in the country AND our all colleagues in Vietnam for the establishment of the Vietnam Society of Emergency Medicine. This is another milestone for medicine in Vietnam.

Professor Peter Cameron is President of the International Federation for Emergency Medicine, Academic Director of the Alfred Emergency and Trauma Centre and Professor of Emergency Medicine at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.He has been active at an international level for 15 years as a member of the IFEM Board, The Alfred Hospital International Program and personal contacts - assisting countries with development of trauma and emergency systems.
Graduating from Melbourne University (MBBS) in 1981, he quickly realised that the present medical system in Australia at that time did not manage emergency patients well. He became one of the first graduates of the new training scheme for emergency medicine in Australia in 1986 (Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine). Very soon he became active in ACEM and took up a string of committee responsibilities to assist in the College activities.
Along with a small group of colleagues, Professor Cameron has led efforts to develop emergency medicine in Australia and New Zealand, being a Past President of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine. He was involved in developing examination processes and the continuing medical education program as well as the scientific committee. He is co-editor of two texts in emergency medicine for adults and paediatrics. In 2010 he published a text with Judith Tintinelli and Jim Holiman (from the US) on Emergency Medical Systems.More recently he has overseen the development of a national course for EM research and also EM management.
At a government and policy level he has made numerous contributions, assisting with the development of policy- particularly in the areas of trauma systems, information technology, overcrowding and prehospital care.
He has a large research program that focuses on prehospital, emergency and trauma care, including patient safety. He has more than 30 researchers in his unit, received multimillion dollar nationally competitive research grants and has published more than 250 peer reviewed papers. He presents at numerous national and international conferences.
